Sophia Seiss born in Berlin in 1993, is a dancer, choreograph, musician, and pedagogue. She graduated from the University of Music and Dance Cologne with a B.A. in contemporary dance and from the Master Programme exerce at CCN- ICI Montpellier. As part of the experimental choir Γλώσσα, (Germany) collaborating with diverse musicians, her practice investigates on a constant research on how sound, voice and movement inform one another and prepare a body of honesty and fragility. Within this she is always looking on social dichotomies: individual and collective, minority and majority, and the processes by which one transforms into the other. Her work is strongly connected to the remnants of the socialist regime in East Berlin where she grow up, constantly searching collective experience of memory, desire and care. She has collaborated with divers Artists in and outside of Europe such as Marina Abramovic, Katie Duck, Ishmael Huston Jones, Pol Pi, Barbara Novati. As part of her pedagogic work she has participated au Festival À Domicile à Guissény FR and is teaching regularly at the Conservatoire de Montpellier.
Sophia Seiss will perform in the piece ‚Against All Logic‘ by Alexander Klaubert on September 13th and 14th.
