„Balancing the tangible with the ethereal,
A symphony of chaos and calm unfold.“

Alexander Klaubert’s ‘Against All Logic’ fluidly combines modern opera, performance and sound, transporting the audience to his childhood, where painful ghosts haunt, and then transform, to shards of hope.
The non-linear form of memory is explored, blurring dream and reality. Relics of what is left behind, and how we come to embody and transform these memories and impressions fragment the sequence of events. Punctured layers of conjecture broken with sparkling puddles, bathed in a warm sunlight. Thumping bass and gentle touch. Against all logic our journey starts here, upon these meadows we lament.

Remnants of moving bodies glisten, shadows, glossy and wet, a collective amalgamation. Clothes translate experiences of darkened sweaty corners, invisible traces from leaking bodies, materiality now waning in the light. Being is not self-possession or even self-determination, it is movement and circulation.

Falling in and becoming, ‘shift I’ is the first evening of public programme that extends and expands shifting temple. Encompassing works across performance, sound and installation, the artists contemplate affective realms, that disrupt, intervene and process. A momentum builds, giving voice to navigate the complexities of trauma and negotiate how sharing can offer collective healing. To carve a space for a more entangled and complicated reality and explode the stiffening of our vibrant bodies.

Touch, speech and sounds resonate, “shift 2” unfolds, a construction of subjectivity and community through the body. Asking what it means to process trauma through art, through this broad and expansive question the artist’s personal experiences will synthesis specific stimuli. Question how we negotiate and destabilise dominant ideologies., particularly to disrupt and reorient canonized timelines and, as a result, create a network of shifting identities, supportive of radical subjectivity. We need a re-disruption of who is being heard. Art can be a meeting point, offering a support system: a tentacular web which, expands and contracts, exposing rich, tender and sticky exchanges.
